Get back your “smile pride” with durable and dazzling porcelain veneers

Don’t hide your smile. Show it off. With porcelain veneers at the office of Wes Park Family Dentistry in Perry, Georgia, we won’t have to tell you to smile twice! Veneers are a highly coveted way to repair dental imperfections, thereby restoring this central facial feature as a source of pride that also fuels confidence and a positive self-image.

What are veneers?

Veneers are ultra-thin, customized wafers of materials such as porcelain. They are made to cover the front surfaces of your teeth. By covering up the teeth, any cosmetic concerns are no longer visible.

What cosmetic concerns can be covered up?

Veneers are quite versatile. With them, Dr. Bryce Westmoreland can easily and naturally correct everything from gaps and chips to stubborn stains and misshapen, undersized, and worn teeth.

Why porcelain? Isn’t that brittle?

On the contrary, modern dental porcelain is actually quite durable. It is a material of choice for veneers for many different reasons. For one, in addition to its strength, the color of porcelain can be matched perfectly to blend in with the surrounding tooth and its natural neighboring teeth. Two, no other material better mimics the appearance and properties of the natural enamel covering of the teeth. And three, it resists stains incredibly well.

How do you place veneers?

Veneers are generally completed in two visits. During the first visit, a small amount of natural tooth enamel is removed. Today’s veneers are super-thin. So, only the most minimal enamel is lifted from the tooth. This feature also helps minimize the discomfort or sensitivity associated with removing or altering this natural covering. With the tooth prepared, Dr. Westmoreland can then collect information about it, which is used to make permanent veneers that fit correctly and look natural. After the veneers have been made, you return to the office for a second time. If all looks and feels great, he secures the veneer to the tooth.

How do I care for my veneers?

Like natural teeth – for the most part. We strive to get ahead of any potential problems with your veneers. For instance, we can provide a custom-fit nightguard to protect your dental work from damage caused by teeth grinding or bruxism. In fact, bruxism may be why your teeth became chipped or otherwise damaged and then required veneers in the first place! So, while porcelain is very strong and stain-resistant, it is not impervious to the effects of behaviors like chewing ice or fingernails and drinking lots of staining foods like tea, coffee, and red wine.

As true partners in this oral health journey, Wes Park Family Dentistry is happy to advise you on keeping your veneers in top shape. With good care, they can last for many years. Call our office in Perry, GA, today at (478) 488-3561 to find out more.
